5 Years In Australia

It has been 1 month that we completed 5 years living in Australia. As you are probably thinking this post should have been published a month ago, right? Right. That was exactly the plan. But this blog is like my real life, or any real life for that matter. We do plan, but things don't always go as planned… And sometimes, this is a good thing!

For example: on 19 April 2007, my husband (boyfriend at that time) and I landed in Sydney for a one-year study and travel. Well, at least that was the plan… Five years later, we are still here, happier than ever, to celebrate many accomplishments and great moments.

We still have a lot of things to learn, a lot of places to know, a lot of people to meet, a lot of decisions to make, a lot of paths to take, a lot of dreams to pursue. But for now, we just want to take the time to be grateful for everything this beautiful country has provided us with.

We won. We lost. We overcame obstacles. We laughed. We married. We partied. We traveled. We made friends from many different parts of the world. We got fluent on a second language. We worked in so many places and we learnt so much. We opened our minds.

We had the most amazing experiences. And the not so good ones as well, of course. They were all equally important to our growth. We are much wiser now. We know a lot more about ourselves and what we want for our lives.

We are proud of our roots, we appreciate our present and we are excited about our future. Above all, we are enjoying our time. Right here, right now.

Arriving in Sydney for the first time

Seeing both the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge for the first time

 Iconic!

Beautiful!

Circular Quay and the city behind. There are people from probably more than ten different backgrounds on this photo... And I love that about Sydney!

Oh my gosh! Time flies...
