Yesterday was the first night of Lady Gaga´s Born This Way Ball in Sydney.
I am not a huge fan, but I was there. She's undoubtedly a current icon pop and I wanted to see what her show was like.
Even though she did not play my favourite song, Speechless, and temperature in Sydney was quite low, I don't regret going (to the cheap seats, of course. I would never pay $200 to this or (almost) any other show).
The Born This Way Ball is kind of a musical. It will tell you a story with lots of dancing and costume changes as well as all the most popular Gaga songs that fans are waiting for, such as: Poker Face, Bad Romance (my second favourite), The Edge Of Glory, Paparazzi, You and I, Judas, Alejandro, Just Dance and, of course, Born This Way.
On the beautiful stage with a castle in the centre of the acts, you will see Lady Gaga being abducted, being born, being hurt, being a murderer and, nicely putting it, being "possessed" by another lady on a motorbike.
The motorbike time is only one of many 'caliente' acts on the show, and that made me think this should may be restricted to over 18s. But it isn't. There were lots of kids and teenagers as well as the full on costumed people.
Self esteem talk was also a big part of the show. Gaga praised her fans who dressed up for her and said she loves to see people dressing like her, but what she really wants is to see people expressing and showing themselves through their own clothes.
She also spoke about gay rights, and took the opportunity to say that even though she's not an Aussie, she's worried about the politics here and elsewhere. She said she wishes her children to be born into a world of equality, where everyone will have the same rights, including marriage rights. I loved her words, mainly because I totally agree with them.
A very emotional moment in the show is when she plays on the piano a song she wrote to all the people, especially kids, who've taken their own lives.
It's a shame this part of the show, where there was nothing besides her piano and her pure strong voice on the stage, passed by so quick. This is the Lady Gaga I like. The one that sits on a piano and shows all her vocal potential and musical talent.
This is my favourite performance of Lady Gaga:

But back to the Born This Way Ball (the third Ball she brings to town after the Fame Ball in 2009 and the Monster Ball in 2010), you can expect all the diva's peculiar energy. She will keep telling you to put your hands up, to dance your butt off and to scream as out loud as possible.
Seeing the intimate way she speaks to the public, the way she tries to grab all the gifts thrown to the stage, the connection she creates, it gets a bit easier to understand why this girl is so successful in the entertainment business.
She makes sure to say she's only 26 and she's so greatful for everything conquered until now, but that she has no plans of stop working. She's always writing songs, thinking of new albums/tour ideas, and she enjoys the travel around the world to get the inspiration she needs.
The 2h15m show finishes after 11pm on a Wednesday night. The song chosen to end the Born This Way Ball was Marry The Night, and here she makes her Little Monsters (an endearing way she call her fans) to promise that they will never give up their dreams.
And that's how this dreaming night ends for Lady Gaga's avid fans. The Little Monsters leave the Allphones Arena with a big smile on their faces. No Sydney chilling weather can swap that away.
Just before the show started, crowd looking like a dark sky full of stars
